Matthew L. Perkins, MD

Dr. Perkins has always been committed to the service of others. Due to severe spinal injuries as a teenager, he was ineligible for military service or law enforcement so medicine offered him a chance to serve others over a lifetime in a very personal way. Similarly, the opportunity to serve the policyholders on the Board of SVMIC represented a fantastic opportunity to increase his knowledge about a vital aspect of healthcare. Having built his own group practice, serving on a local IPA board, and in various hospital leadership positions, Dr. Perkins is now bringing useful and unique perspectives to SVMIC as the Vice Chair of the Board.

Dr. Perkins enjoys backpacking in exotic places. He also loves working on his small farm.

What one specific value of SVMIC speaks to you the most?

Integrity. That one word defines how I try to live my own life. While imperfect in our daily journey, this one ideal gets me through my day.
