A Year-End Recap

In 2025, we examined new and unique risk challenges such as the effect the Name, Image, and Likeness Law (NIL) could have on providers, especially those practicing orthopedics. We revisited and updated prior topics such as the CURES Act, AV recording, and M.E.D.I.C. while also discussing the legal issues relating to waivers, managing recommended orders, and failures to review nursing notes. Rest assured, our experienced Risk Education Department will continue to work diligently to provide our policyholders with the most up-to-date, practical information to help avoid a malpractice claim or lawsuit as well as keeping them informed of the latest trends and laws that might adversely affect their practice. The topics we addressed in 2025 :

Student Athletes and NIL Liabilities

Physicians Review Nursing Notes

AV Recording Update

Failure to Review Available Documentation

When to Call SVMIC

Cures Act Reminder

Memphis Maxims

Revisiting M.E.D.I.C.

A Proactive Approach to Managing Recommended Orders

In 2026, we will continue to answer policyholders’ questions, discuss areas of potential risk affecting physicians, advanced practitioners, their staff and practices, as well as providing the best live and online educational programs available.  We hope your remainder of 2025 is successful, joyous, and fulfilling. We look forward to serving you in the coming year.
